6.20.23 - Prayer is a Lifelife

Hi ,

In April 2016 I left a relationship of 3.5 years. I moved back to St Louis, Mo from Atlanta, GA.

After being choked out by my ex with my 1 year old daughter only a few feet away, I decided enough was enough. Fortunately, my mom was in town visiting and she was able to help me move back home quickly. Not easily, quickly.

It was a tough decision. I had a good job. I had made friends. I liked Atlanta. But the smart thing (and safest thing) was to move back home.

So at 28 years old I moved in with my mom and step dad and lived in their basement for 6 months.

This was a dark time. I felt hopeless. I was scared to death. I felt like everything I had worked towards was snatched away.

After a couple months, I finally got a new job. It was part time and minimum wage but it was something. I was promised an increase to match what I was making in Atlanta, but that never came through.

That job is how I met my husband. About a month after I started the new job I went out of town to a work conference and met him.

He is the person who encouraged me to get back to going to church. I had a co worker that had a church home in St Louis so she invited me to a Sunday service. I went one Sunday and that became my church home shortly after.

Going to church, worship music, and listening to the word reminded me of how important a relationship with God is.

I began to start praying for God's help through all the chaos I was going through.

I began to realize that a lot of life is out of our control and we have to trust God.

I began to talk to God on a regular basis because I was always in fear that I may not make it to the next day.

I began to trust God more and more because I saw how much he delivered me from and how he turned such a tragedy into a blessing.

My story is still being written but I want you to know that prayer is essential to a relationship with God. He wants to hear from us, he wants to talk to us, he wants us to include him.

My story has taught me that prayer changes everything. If you are going through something, stop and pray. I'm not saying it will work itself out right after you pray, but there's something about praying, giving it to God, and trusting that he is going to work it out for good.

There is power in prayer. It's our lifeline to God. The best part is you don't have to go anywhere special or say anything particular to pray. Just talk to God like a friend, because he is our friend.

I hope this helped you. If so, write back and let me know!
