1.17.24 - Waiting patiently

Good morning ,

We have been studying the story of Noah in Bible Study at church. I have read about Noah building the ark several times but I feel like this time it's different.

First, I loved that Noah was obedient. His obedience saved his family and life after the flood. Listening to God's instruction is sometimes a matter of life or death. God gave him instruction and he took action, no matter how crazy it seemed to others. 

Second, I want to have the dedication of Noah. Building the ark took years. I'm not quite sure how many years exactly, but just imagine how much dedication you would need to have to build something so large, without the tools and resources we have today. 

Next, imagine the faith that Noah had when he started building the ark. Then imagine the faith he would have had once it started raining. I imagine it was pretty scary. His world as he knew it was completely gone. As time went on I wonder if his faith wavered. Regardless, I think as soon as it stopped raining he was anxious to get off the ark, but he couldn't. He had to keep waiting. I wonder if he waited patiently or if he kept looking out every day, several times a day to see if it was time to get off. 

I wonder how many times he asked God "WHY" or "WHEN" or "HOW". 

I love the Bible but sometimes I wish it gave us more details about the events that took place. 

Whether Noah waited patiently or impatiently is tough to say, but he waited on God. 

I want to wait on God. 

We live in such a fast paced world that we hate to wait for anything. If it doesn't happen quickly, then we feel like it will never happen. We get discouraged. Sometimes we get angry. But then we move on to the next and the cycle repeats. 

We have to slow down. Get in prayer. Get in God's word. And learn to wait on God. His time is not our time. But his timing is perfect.
