8.28.24 - Worrying is wrong
Good morning ,
I'm currently reading the book of Romans and I came across an insight on worrying. (The bible I study from has these things called insights that cover various topics, women in the bible and challenges we face as women). I want to share with you what I read because I know worrying is something we all do, but as Christians we do not have to worry about anything.
"Worrying is always wrong, for it paralyzes active faith in your life. Worrying does not change anything except to draw your focus away from God and his faithfulness and righteousness to concerns about the things of life. Worrying is the opposite of faith, suggesting that God cannot take care of you or provide what you need. Jesus repeatedly taught "do not worry" even about the basic essentials of life." (Matthew 6: 25-34)
The world normalizes worrying about everything. We have so many stressors and concerns for ourselves and loved ones that we can make ourselves sick worrying about everything, but the Bible teaches us something different. The bible says "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Philippians 4:6
Seems straightfoward, so why is it so hard???
I don't know about you but for me it's my own control issues, instead of relying on the Lord to handle it. This in no way means be lazy, but it means to exercise our faith. Worrying and having faith do not exist together.
I'm writing to you as a reminder to myself. Immediately pray whenever worry starts to set in. Seek God first instead of trying to fix it yourself.
Imagine what kind of difference it will make in your life if you trade worry for prayer.
I hope this week has been a good one for you. Honestly, it's been a struggle for me. I'm been doing a lot of worrying and I'm tired of it. I've begun to ask God to help me overcome instead of Why? I've started to get back to asking him what I'm supposed to be learning instead of feeling frustrated in the reality He allows me to face. I'm taking it day by day and trying to understand His ways are not my ways, and his thoughts are not my thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). God has me covered and he is doing something amazing that I can't see in the moment but I know there will be another testimony that will bring hope to someone else.
I'm going to challenge myself for the rest of the week to immediately pray when worry sets in. If you are struggling in this area I encourage you to join me and see how your day changes.
I appreciate you being a part of my community. It's always more than skin care :)
If this email has helped you please share it with someone you know.
Love,
Danielle
