1.9.25 - God knows

Good morning ,

I started reading this book called The Bait of Satan and it's about getting free from offense. John Bevere uses the example of the story of Joseph to show the character of a person that doesn't respond with offense. He talks about how Joseph trusted God, despite the wrong things done to him, and how God used Joseph to save his family from the famine. If Joseph would have responded with offense, we don't know that the story would have gone the way that it did. God knew that Joseph would trust him and he wouldn't retaliate when he had the ability. He chose to show love and grace to his brothers who sold him into slavery.

John then went on to talk about how when things happen God doesn't start creating a plan. It made me laugh because I am guilty of thinking that way sometimes. When things go left I find myself wondering what plan God is going to come up with to redirect things. The fact is God has had the plan since before creation. God didn't have to make a new plan for Joseph when he was sold into slavery. There is no new plan God needs to create for any of us. He isn't up in heaven changing plans for people because he is surprised or trying to find more resources. Our God knows all and can handle all. No matter how bad we mess up, or how bad things seem to get, God already has the plan. It's up to us to trust his plan. It's when we start taking matters into our own hands and act out of offense that we end up going against God, instead of allowing him to guide us.

Through reading this book I've realized I struggle big time with offense. I get offended over such small things and it's usually from people I don't even know. Then I get offended by people I do know, and it typically just boils up until I boil over. I'm a mess. I look forward to learning more about this topic and how to lean on God when I feel offended. I want to respond differently this year and if you struggle in this area I hope you can respond differently too. It's hard, especially when you have been hurt and you have a guard up, but we can do it with the help of the Lord.
