1.15.25 - take heart
Good morning ,
We are halfway through the first month of 2025. For some of us, 2025 has been nothing short of amazing. For others, it's been quite the opposite. I want to remind you that God can handle both. Regardless of whether we are doing well or in suffering, God wants us to pursue him.
This past week I have been looking at scripture that deals with suffering. A verse that continues to come to mind is Romans 5: 3-4 " Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
When we suffer the end goal is that we will find more hope in our God through Jesus Christ. If you read a little further to verse 5 the bible tells us, "And hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."
So even though we suffer, we know that what comes from suffering is hope. And with hope we are not disappointed because of God's love.
We also must remember that Jesus did not promise that we wouldn't have trouble. In John 16:33 , Jesus says, "“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
He told his disciples at the last supper that they would have trouble. He wanted to prepare them for the suffering they would endure once he left them. But he also told them to take heart because he has overcome the world. It's hard to remember in times of trouble that through Jesus Christ we have victory. We can feel lost and defeated by the troubles of what we currently see. That is why it's so important to study God's word so that we can get wisdom and be encouraged during times of trouble, because time times will come.
For those of you reading this who are not in a time of suffering, continue to give God praise and seek him first. It's easy to get into the flow of things going well and forget about spending time with God. I've been there and it's terrible. We do not want to seek God for what he can do for us, but seek him for what he has already done for us.
I look forward to seeing what God is going to do through my life and my family in this season. I look forward to hearing what God is doing in your life as well! Please reply back and let me know if you have a testimony, a prayer request or if you just want to say hi.
