1.23.25 - do everything in love
Good morning ,
A few weeks ago I shared with you that I'm reading "The Bait of Satan." It's helped me understand that even when I'm offended, it does not give me the right to cause offense to another person.
That is really hard.
Instead of plotting revenge, getting an attitude, gossiping about the person/situation, etc - Jesus tells us to love. In John 13:35, Jesus tells his disciples, "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
I don't know about you but when I'm offended - love is not my first response, but it SHOULD be.
Again, this is really hard.
In 1 Corinthians 16: 3-4 , Paul writes, "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love."
God is love. 1 John 4:16 says, "We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him."
We can read all bible front to back, pray 3x a day and post daily bible quotes on social media, but if we do not have love we are missing the point.
I wanted to share this reminder with you because loving those who offend us, especially more than once, is not a natural response for our flesh. But thank God we have the Holy Spirit to help us!
We are not expected to do any of this through our own strength and that is a huge relief.
If the world does not see love through the body of Christ then how much harder will it be for them to be won to Christ?
As we go about our day let us remember to do everything in love.
