12.4.24 - honoring god
Good morning ,
I want to start by sharing that I desire to run a business that honors God and my prayer is that through my company and testimony others will be encouraged to put their hope in God alone.
About a month ago I received an email from a concerned customer regarding my yoni care collection. She expressed her concern for the word yoni and encouraged me to look into the root of the word and pray about the name.
What she didn't know is prior to her email I had been confused about the line. It had been one of my best selling collections until I launched my anti aging products in October 2023. I thought a makeover of the label would stir up some sales, but I was sadly mistaken. lol. Her email immediately sent me to google and I discovered what she shared in her email was true.
I want to briefly explain that the word Yoni comes from the Hindu language. Most references will say it means "vulva" or "womb" or "female genitalia". What got me is that the word symbolizes the goddess Shakti. Shakti represents female power and the creative energy responsible for creation. No thank you. Now I needed to figure out how to proceed.
"My plan" was to get through Black Friday. I was going to run my sales and then change the name in the New Year. The day I was planning to launch my sale I called a friend and told her about my discovery. I mentioned to my husband that I was planning on offering a larger discount on the yoni products to get the labels out of my inventory. I shared the same "great" thought with her and I was so convicted yall. Before I could even finish all my thoughts I told her I just need to mark everything out of stock until I can get new labels. She agreed and we started talking about the name changes and things I needed to do to move forward. She encouraged me to follow the Lord.
So I marked everything out of stock and declared this would not impact a thing. God is faithful. We have to trust him, even when it's hard.
Black Friday was amazing. My hope was to do similar sales to last year. I was extremely intentional (my word for 2024) with my offers and I watched God do what only God does. We did almost $100 less last Black Friday which is quite incredible given how much the economy has suffered. It amazes me that I spent less time preparing and stressing to have the outcome I did, not to mention an entire collection was out of stock. God is good!!!
I want to encourage you to seek to honor God. Don't worry about what people will think. Be obedient to the Holy Spirit and where he guides you. There is someone who may read this email and say "it's just a word" or "it's not that big of a deal", and that's okay. Not everyone will understand. But what you do understand you can do something about.
I am very grateful for this beautiful customer who sent me a kind hearted email. I thank God for using her to share truth with me in a loving and non judgmental way. I pray I will be able to share truth in the same way with others.
I wasn't planning on fooling with the labels until next year, BUT, I received an email yesterday that my label vendor was having a sale so I went ahead and placed the new order of labels. I am excited to see how God reignites this collection under a name that honors him.
Lastly, I hope my brand encourages you to put your all your trust in the Lord (even when you have your own plans).
